Take a minute lo learn about Costa Rica's intellectual property laws, also about some of the country's main facts....

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAWS:
Costa Rica has had a tradition of intellectual property protection for more than a century.
Our legal system provides full protection for all forms of intellectual property, including, but not limited to, patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, integrated circuits and plant varieties.
The country’s intellectual property laws comply with internationally recognized standards, such as the WTO’s TRIPS. Most international agreements on IP have been ratified, including TRIPS, the Rome and Berne Conventions (on Copyrights), the Paris Convention (for Patents and Trademarks) and the PCT Agreement (for International Patent Filing). Just recently, Costa Rica became a member of UPOV, the Budapest Treaty for Microorganism Deposits, and the Trademark Law Treaty, also known as TLT. Being the United States one of Costa Rica's major trading partners, it is also a member of the Central American Free Trade Agreement, also known as CAFTA, which contains several important rules on intellectual property.
